Hiking with the landlady personally - the passionate mountain admirer - leads you to the most beautiful places. Also daughter "Melanie" has completed the mountain hiking test - and is FIT! The nature reserve around the Gross Ahornboden, in the heart of the Karwendel, is a breath-taking landscape with high mountains with more than 2500 m.

  • Mountain hiking: walking with friends through forests or across meadows, laughing at a few jokes and just having time with each other.
  • Mountaineering: only those who climb a mountain, knows this unique feeling of standing at the summit and knowing "I did it".
  • Mountain biking: exploring the countryside, people and culture with a donkey is challenging.

Directly in front of our entrance door the nature park Karwendel offers wonderful excellent opportunities for hiking and mountaineering in a beautiful landscape. Holiday world of a special kind: hiking in the most beautiful part of Tyrol in the Engergrund, watching chamois, following the whistle of the marmots - this is the highest enjoyment of nature. Enjoy the gentian blossoms in the spring, hike around the blooming valley or explore the colourful alpine pastures between grazing cows and be proud of being on the summit cross "Berg Heil".

You can do that on our weekly-guided tours, which we will discuss according to the conditions of guests at the regulars’ table. In the middle of the Karwendel we offer 3- to 8-hour tours, of course always with a hearty stop at huts or on mountain pastures. Every week the landlady (certified hiking guide) plans a so-called "pleasure hike" for you.

With the guest card, our overnight guests can visit the Hinterriß Nature Park House free of charge.

The modern museum has a lot to offer: Here you can learn exciting and interesting facts about the diverse landscape and its history, the inhabitants and their living conditions as well as the products lovingly made in the Karwendel and regional added value.
